This lovely piece of art was created by my 13 yr old son. He is an excellent chef in the making.
Apples cooked in honey and brown sugar used for….
Puff pastry, it is the stuff of dreams, wrapped around apples, tart and sweet with a bit of spice. It is hard to find a better breakfast, fresh from the oven, steaming and crunchy with a gooey center.
I love red meat, and roast beef is in the top of that list when it has cooked all day and the house is permeated with the smell of it. It falls apart with a touch of the fork. On a hunk of a baguette the sandwich is built on a foundation of aged whiskey cheddar, smokey with a bite, a juicy tomato slice, the beef, then baby arugula, salt and pepper. Then topped with spicy, grainy mustard, just enough of kick to stand up to all the robust flavors that all vie for attention. The only thing I would change… I would have checked for the horseradish before making the sandwich but alas we were out. I am adding it to my herb garden this year.
